Competency-based human resource management has become an increasingly important approach in helping organizations achieve their strategic goals. This study aims to systematically review how this practice is applied in various organizational contexts, as well as to identify its benefits, challenges, and future directions. The method used is a systematic review of scientific publications over the past decade (2013–2023) obtained from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Articles meeting the selection criteria were analyzed using a thematic approach. The findings indicate that a competencybased approach can enhance individual and organizational performance, as it clarifies employee roles, boosts productivity and work motivation, and helps organizations achieve their goals more effectively. However, challenges such as competency gaps and the lack of effective evaluation systems are still commonly encountered. This study provides important insights for the development of more relevant and sustainable human resource policies
